Softcat
Award Winning IT reseller Softcat puts it’s money where its mouth is, using a 38U NetShelter CX to avoid building a server room in its new Moorgate, London office, and adding theNetShelter CX product range to its portfolio.
Cabinet saves £20,000 and 27 tonnes of CO2 annually for reseller
The NetShelter CX server cabinets are now available from Softcat, a provider of software licensing, hardware, security and related IT services.
Softcat is also using a NetShelter CX in its own offices in Moorgate, London. A NetShelter CX cabinet houses the entire local office communications infrastructure, including a Cisco IP telephony system, router, switches and two HP DL380 servers.
“Due to the NetShelter CX, we will save £11,000 in capital expenditure on server room build costs, and have calculated in excess of £20,000 annually: £15,000 in reduced rent due to space savings, and £5,000 due to lower electricity costs – which is equivalent to a saving of 27 tonnes of CO2,” said Doug Fawell, operations director at Softcat. “We were also able to save 15 weeks in installation time, compared to how long it would take to build a server room.”
“We were originally considering building a small server room, but instead decided to use a NetShelter CX server cabinet, which is something that we have already deployed successfully for several customers,” said Doug Fawell.
