Kell Systems BladeVault™ in the open office
UK National School of Government
The National School of Government, a British government department dedicated to providing the highest standards of learning and development solutions to public service staff, selected Kell Systems BladeVault to augment its data centre facilities.
The School's BladeVault houses an HP BladeSystem c3000™ directly in a working office as well as UPS, tape storage devices, 2 network disc arrays, a network switch and an additional rack-mount server.
The National School of Government chose BladeVault rather than building a traditional server room, as it offered a fast to deploy, tidy infrastructure solution that didn't require expensive and disruptive building works. Moreover, as an educational campus with multiple buildings, the portability of BladeVault was attractive as it allows greater flexibility if buildings need to be repurposed or floor plans changed at a future date.
"The soundproofing is so effective that we have staff working just 2 metres away from the fully configured installation," says Martin Cragg, Head of Networking for the National School of Government. He adds,"We'd envisaged erecting a partition between the BladeVault and the working office, but now it's arrived and is fully kitted out it's just not needed. The cabinet runs very quietly and looks great, the staff don't even notice it's there."
